Admissions
The Headteacher is happy to show prospective parents around the school by appointment and we have three open days where the older children conduct a tour of our school and the Headteacher is available to answer any questions.
All parents are allocated a place in our school through the RBWM Admissions Team. Places will be allocated in accordance with L.E.A. criteria.
1. Children of compulsory school age whose home address is in the area served by the school.
2. Children of compulsory school age who have brothers or sisters attending the school. (In the case of a junior or middle school, those children who have attended an infant or first school on the same site.)
3. Children of compulsory school age whose parents choose the school on denominational grounds.
4. Children of compulsory school age who have strong medical or social grounds for admission.
5. Children of compulsory school age whose parents have any other reason for their preference.
Parents should contact the Admission Office on 01628 796783 to obtain a Primary School Common Application Form (CAF). The wording in the primary admissions booklet is slightly confusing so just to clarify anyone can apply for a place at Braywood CE First School. It is only if you are applying to the school on religious grounds (please read Section 3 of the CAF) that it is a requirement to have Section 3 completed by your vicar, minister or priest. If you would like to send your child to Braywood then please leave that section blank. It will not affect your eligibility for a place.
The closing date for admission forms to be received at the Local Education Authority is usually the last Friday of January but the actual date will be published in the annual primary admissions booklet
If a child is refused admission parents have the right of appeal to the Chief Education Officer – address available on request.
In the School Prospectus Brochure there is a form which we would be obliged if you would complete and return, although this does not take replace the CAF form which must be lodged at the Admissions Department to apply for a place for your child.
Parents will be officially informed by the LEA if there is a place for their child at Braywood during the term before they are due to start. The school will confirm this place in writing and invite all prospective children and parents to attend an induction programme in preparation for starting school.
Please do not hesitate to contract the school if you have any further enquiries we would be more than happy to explain this procedure further.
